PUERTO RICO - LOCATION

island located in the Greater Antilles Islands
which are southeast of the United States. The
Atlantic Ocean is located north of the island and
the Caribbean Sea is at the south.

PUERTO RICO MOUNTAINS

75 of Puerto Ricos terrain. The Cordillera
Central Mountains are located in the central
part of the island.

PUERTO RICO HIGHEST ELEVATION

highest peak in Puerto Rico. It is located in
the Cordillera Central Mountains and is 1,338 km
(4,390 miles) above sea level.

PUERTO RICO RAINFOREST

Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the US
National Forest System. It is located 40 km
southeast of San Jaun in the Sierra de Luquillo
mountain range.

PUERTO RICO ENDANGERED SPECIES

• The Puerto Rican Parrot which lives in the El
  Yunque Rainforest is one of the top ten most
  endangered species in the world. It is the only
  parrot that is native to any place belonging to
  the United States.

PUERTO RICO BERMUDA TRIANGLE

• The Bermuda Triangle is identified by three
  points located at Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto
  Rico. It is considered a legendary area where
  boats and planes have disappeared due
  navigational errors because a compass cannot
  point to true magnetic north in this part of
  the world.

PUERTO RICO COASTAL PLAINS

(311.3) of coastline and the ocean is very deep
around the island. The Puerto Rican Trench,
which is located north of the island, is 8,605
meters deep (28,231 feet) and is the deepest
point in the Atlantic Ocean.

PUERTO RICO SAN JUAN PORT

is located along the Mona Passage which is a
major shipping lane to the Panama Canal. This
natural harbor is one of the largest in the
Caribbean.

• Luquillo Beach is located on the northeast part
  of the island and is one of the many beaches of
  Puerto Rico that is a popular tourist
  destination.

• Puerto Ricos climate is tropical and mild.
  There is very little change in seasonal
  temperatures which are usually about 80 degrees
  Fahrenheit.
