Thunderstorm Facts

• Thunderstorms are strong storms that include
  lightning, thunder, heavy rains and hail.
  Sometimes a tornado might appear.

Safety Rule 1

• Since there is lightning in most
  thunderstorms, it is vital to find shelter. If
  you are outside during a thunderstorm in a plain
  field, get as low as you can. Lightning will
  strike the tallest thing around to find a path to
  the ground.
• NEVER stand under or around a tree!!!

Safety Rule 2

• If you are stuck in a car and you are in the
  middle of a dangerous thunder storm, you should
  stay inside the car.
• If you are outside and a building is not
  nearby, take shelter in your car.

Safety Rule 3

• Thunderstorms can still be dangerous even when
  you are in the house! If there is a thunderstorm,
  you shouldnt be taking a bath. You also should
  not talk on your phone because if lightning
  strikes the telephone line and you are on the
  phone, you could get electrocuted.

• Never play video games or work on the
  computer.
• Electrical items that are plugged into the
  wall are conductors of electricity.
