Wireless Connection to the Network and Internet
  • The Teacher will
  • Sign out lab through Media Center.
  • Document what laptop was assigned to what
    student.
  • Assure that user is logged into network.
  • Restock laptops into cart into assigned location
    after each period
  • Returnto Media Center.
  • Documentation of any unit that did not work as
    expected.

This is one of our new wireless labs. The
locking system is complex but necessary. It must
remain locked until ready for use.

This is the interior of the cart. Notice how
neat and orderly the laptops and cords are.
Unplug the laptop and remove the unit. NEVER
REMOVE THE CORD FROM CART.
Access Point
5
Differences
  • Only require one hour to charge to capacity
  • Rotation will be set in Media Center to assure
labs only go out fully charged.
  • No power cords will be removed. If the cart is
not charged, it will not be checked out.
  • All units have access to Internet. Therefore,
every student must log into the network. If the
log in does not work, do not use the machine and
    let the media staff know.
  • A strict inventory will be taken of the physical
contents of the lab cart as well as the digital
contents of the units themselves. Bottom line,
the teacher is responsible for the cart, the
laptops, and the use of the laptops while checked
    out.
  • The units will be inventoried upon check out and
upon return. If something is missing or does not
work, we will address it at that time. This will
assure a timely repair or timely investigation.

Instructional Hints
  • Arrange in advance
  • Take accurate count of the laptops.
  • Do not wait until the bell rings to collect,
inventory, and plug in all the laptops. Plan
    accordingly.
  • Spread out your Network logins over a period of
time. Do not have every student log in at the
exact same time or go to one particular Internet
site. This will slow down your network
    connectivity.
  • Remember, these machines do not have print
    capabilities.
