WP 8 Stakeholder Validation Team Kick off
meeting
2Why RESCUE ?
Gaps
- Stakeholder activities lack integration
- Lacking political commitment low priority for
brownfield reuse - Sustainability of projects uncertain
3Sustainable Development Meet todays needs
without jeopardising to meet the needs of future
generations. (Brundland Commission 1987)
- Sustainable Brownfield Development
- Ensure that the needs of present and future
generations be satisfied enduringly and in a way
that is - environmentally sensitive
- economically viable
- institutionally robust and
- socially acceptable
4RESCUE Development of a system approach for the
sustainable regeneration of brownfield sites
across Europe
5Case Studies
Case Study selection
- Sites are comparable (previous land use, size,
etc.) - Site is relevant for all sustainability aspects
- Data are available for all aspects, especially
for sustainability criteria (economical,
environmental, social) - Redevelopment process is advanced or finished
