2- Energy and time resolution of the combined
Preradiator/Calorimeter system - We have to do a new, more realistic calculation
of the energy/time resolution for the P/C system
to show possibility to reach the required
resolutions - ?E 2.7/?EGeV, ?T 90psec/?EGeV.
- The new estimate of the energy resolution will be
done with a modernized procedure for calculation,
including simulation of a detectors calibration
and subsequent correction of their signals. - Main problem is calibration and correction of the
Preradiator signals in present design (a X-Y
plank geometry) of the Preradiator scintillators.
3(June October 2005) 1. Uniformity of the
Calorimeter response (energy value energy
resolution) versus incident point and angle of
photons Our Monte Carlo calculation and a
preliminary measurement with cosmic muons have
shown, that uniformity of the Calorimeter
response to photons is better than 1. However,
the direct measurements of this uniformity have
not been done to check our prediction. IHEP has
produced and delivered to BNL the 25
pre-production calorimeter modules. We will
build a new prototype of the Photon Calorimeter -
an array of 5 ? 5 modules with a prototyped
version of its HV, Cooling, Monitoring,
WFD-readout instrumentation. In autumn of 2005,
this prototype will be employed to test
uniformity of the Calorimeter response on a LEGS
tagged photon beam. Â 2. Final specifications
for the Calorimeter subsystems (HV, Cooling,
Monitoring and WFD-readout)Â We propose using the
same Calorimeter prototype to study prototypes of
the mentioned Calorimeter subsystems to adjust
their final specifications. Â Minimal cost of
the prototype instrumentation is 59,825. 43,150
is an already reserved fund (SBU and
YALE). 16,675 is an additionally required fund
(KOPIO Project Office).
4- (October 2005 October 2006)
- WBS-1.2.3.1 Mockup of Calorimeter System
- Construction and test of a 16?8 array of
mass-produced modules with appropriate
pre-production prototypes of the Cooling,
High-Voltage, Monitoring and WFD-readout systems
to test the energy and timing performance of a
combined Calorimeter/Preradiator system and the
performance characteristics of the DAQ-system
prototype. - The design/production/shipping cost of the
Calorimeter System Mockup is 505k. - WBS-1.2.3.2.1 Design of Photon Calorimeter
- Conceptual design and a completed
technical design of Photon Calorimeter. Design
cost is 50k.
5- The short-term Calorimeter RD (June October
2005) will be covered by an existed
KOIPO/YALE/IHEP MoU. - The long-term Calorimeter RD (first year of the
Calorimeter construction stage) will need two
separate MoUs (KOPIO/YALE and KOPIO/IHEP), which
we start to discuss and draft now.
