6 Objectives of Project
- To unify the huge volume of scattered data among
hundreds of offices throughout the country - To guarantee the interoperability of data for
better decision making at both micro and macro
levels - To facilitate the dissemination and publication
of geospatial data and data services to the
community - To validate the need for a geospatial data
infrastructure framework and data standardization
for the country.

14MAIN activities to be fulfilled by the project
- Building the Master Plan, including user
requirement capture, system analysis and design,
metadata and standards, patterns, styles,
component breakdown and scheduling - Building the master node of Geoportal at the
Information and Communication Department of the
Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment
(CIREN) - Feasibility study for building the local
Geoportals for Resource and Environment
Management for the provinces - Deploying all the provincial Geoportals at
national scale
15MAIN activities to be fulfilled by the project
- Digitizing and standardizing the appropriate data
for a preliminary dissemination of geospatial
data to the public - Configuring the standard services to operate
through the network - Standardizing the metadata for all provinces and
the MONRE - Building the legal framework for the public
portal services at central and local levels - Connecting all the provincial portals with the
central node at CIREN to complete the Geospatial
Portal Network at full operation.

21Conclusion
- GPN project is completely suitable and
appropriate with the information technology
application and development strategy of the
Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment. - The project is managed cooperatively with
projects managed by other departments in the same
ministry, such as building the spatial data
infrastructure in order to provide the geographic
data, which contributes to the development of
Vietnams economics. - The project is the work of extensive research,
development and application over the years by
staff of the Department of Information
Technology. The technology applied in this
project has been successfully deployed in
production both domestically and internationally - The major obstacle is the lack of human resources
and budget at national scale and therefore the
project needs the help from many organizations in
Viet Nam and all over the world.
