The Problem

• Northwestern Regional Library System needs a new
  logo. Specifically, the new logo must
• Appeal to the general public
• Appear clearly in black and white as well as
  color
• Transition well to web and electronic
  presentation
• Use easy to read colors

The Process

• The process involved each designer coming up with
  a logo or series of logos, then after a peer
  review, the members of our creative staff voted
  on the logos which that would be presented to the
  client.

Gerrys Path to Logo Design

• Although Gerry had experience in graphic design,
  he had no prior experiences with library logo
  design. To arrive at his logo, he first created
  a sketch, then applied colors, and finally added
  finishing touches.

Danes Path to Logo Design

• He first critiqued Northwesterns previous
  logofinding the strengths and weaknesses

• Then, he brainstormed to get the needs that the
  new logo must meet

• The next step was to draw out various design
  possibilities

• Finally, he chose the best of his designs

Roberts Path to Logo Design

• Robert began with a map of NC with the counties
  of the Northwestern Regional Library System
  highlighted.

• Robert then changed the color to make it more
  aesthetically pleasing
• He then added a clipart of books to enhance the
  image.
• Finally, he added the name of the library system.
