- The Tlingits real name was Lingit. Many Tlingit
kids drink 7-up soda. In the Tlingit past, ravens
married eagles. In the Tlingit tribes ravens had
to marry eagles.
4Arts and crafts
- One of the Tlingit jobs is carving and painting
totems. For centuries outsiders are impressed by
the woodwork skill and fine art of the Tlingit
for there totem poles, masks, and the magnificent
weaving. The houses that the Tlingits make are
narrow and long.
5Shelter
- If you think Tlingits live in teepees you are
wrong. The Tlingits make houses by the sea
usually. The Tlingits make there houses out of
cedar wood.
6Food
The Tlingits eat fish such as salmon. They
usually dont hunt bear because the Tlingit
people think bears are there closest related to
humans. Most Tlingits hunt rabbits and
sometimes bears. They also pick berries and hunt
sea animals.
7Environment
Tlingits live In southeast Alaska and northwest
Canada. They live in the mountains and by the
sea. That is because there ancestors lived
there.
8Currency
They make money by trading with others. They also
use shells and beads for treasure. They think
that beads are more precious than gold. Tlingits
make bracelets and necklaces with the beads and
seashells. The Tlingits rarely trade seashells
and beads, they only trade them for valuable
stuff.
9Tools and Weapons
- Tlingits have bows and arrows for weapons.
- They also use spears for weapons.
- They sometimes have canoes, adze, stone mauls,
blankets, awl, whorl, mats, salmon tongs,
spindles, mat needles, and eating and cooking
materials.

- A kwan is a tribe or a group of people.
- Tlingits play baseball with each other.
- The Tlingits get everything they need from the
sea or land. - A potlatch is a party and the host gives out
presents.

- Canoes are not all the same because some are
fishing canoes and some are war. - Do you know that Tlingits dont just hunt animals
for there meat but also for there fur.
