Interesting facts
  • The Tlingits real name was Lingit. Many Tlingit
    kids drink 7-up soda. In the Tlingit past, ravens
    married eagles. In the Tlingit tribes ravens had
    to marry eagles.

Arts and crafts
  • One of the Tlingit jobs is carving and painting
    totems. For centuries outsiders are impressed by
    the woodwork skill and fine art of the Tlingit
    for there totem poles, masks, and the magnificent
    weaving. The houses that the Tlingits make are
    narrow and long.

  • If you think Tlingits live in teepees you are
    wrong. The Tlingits make houses by the sea
    usually. The Tlingits make there houses out of
    cedar wood.

The Tlingits eat fish such as salmon. They
usually dont hunt bear because the Tlingit
people think bears are there closest related to
humans. Most Tlingits hunt rabbits and
sometimes bears. They also pick berries and hunt
sea animals.

Environment
Tlingits live In southeast Alaska and northwest
Canada. They live in the mountains and by the
sea. That is because there ancestors lived
there.

They make money by trading with others. They also
use shells and beads for treasure. They think
that beads are more precious than gold. Tlingits
make bracelets and necklaces with the beads and
seashells. The Tlingits rarely trade seashells
and beads, they only trade them for valuable
stuff.

  • They also use spears for weapons.
