2
Meeting Agenda
  • Phase II Dear Review Status for launching
    Phase III
  • Enhancements for next DEAR release
  • Removal of Systems from DEAR
  • Update on Modernization Blueprints

3
Phase II Status
4
Status for launching Phase III
  • Reviewing the Bureau BEARS
  • QA cycle loads to pre-identify collisions.
  • Testing movement of Diagrams
  • Schedule
  • PRM July 15th thru August 9th
  • BRM August 19th thru September 15th
  • DOI review of Bureaus changes in work
  • Phase III upgrades
  • PRM alignment with the OMB
  • Inventory improvement simplified way to track
    core
  • WIZARD set to work for PRM and BRM
  • Issues
  • BRM now have access to the ABC system and are
evaluating the current ABC to BRM for consistency
Dont want to have mappings D twice
  • Potential Release of Popkin SA version 10.x July
1.Features and bug fixes will be of value.
  • Recommend start with PRM and in parallel resolve
the BRM to ABC issue with PPO
  • During BEAR INGEST time no changes can be made.
If you go to login, and can't access that means
we are building it, and need exclusive access.

DEAR Improvements
  • DEAR Improvements
  • IEA IAWG Meeting June 28th, 2004

6
Key Improvement Areas
  • Business Focus Area
  • Blueprint Modeling
  • Diagram Types
  • System Inventory
  • PRM
  • Wizard
  • Reports
  • Web Site

7
Business Focus Area What is it?
8
Business Focus Area What is it?
  • A way to relate a certain Line of Business to the
    other EA Domains
  • The term Business Focus Area (BFA) was chosen as
the BRM uses the term Line of Business slightly
    differently than the DOI does.
  • BFA serves multiple purposes across domains
  • Without this, a Modernization Blueprint cannot be
    Business-Specific
  • For a BFA, you relate
  • End Outcomes related to that BFA
  • Function Activities
  • Lines of Businesses
  • Data Subject Area
  • Systems within the BFA Inventory
  • Support Associated BFAs as well
  • System Components (that are BFA specific)
  • For other areas, you can infer through
relationships such as to get SRM, TRM
  • Canned Reports for a BFA will be created for each
one. As well as a template when a new one is
    added for easy generation

Business Focus Area
  • Current BFAs are
  • Financial Management
  • Indian Trust
  • Law Enforcement
  • Recreation
  • Wildfire Management

11
TBA Model Review
  • Target Blueprint Analysis (TBA)
    Metamodel/Diagrams
  • New TBA Diagrams will be demonstrated/drafted for
    TBA draft deliverable
  • Proposed model for storing Target Analysis
    information available (but not populated)
Available in the metamodel on the DOI EA Web
    Site.
  • Incorporates improved way of managing business
focus areas also relating to the System Inventory
and Business-level issues that are not System
    based.

TBA Diagram Examples
  • Target Blueprint Analysis (TBA)
    Metamodel/Diagrams
  • Architectural Migration in Reference Model
    Context
  • In any of BRM, SRM, DRM, TRM context depending on
    the scope/focus of the Migration

14
BEFORE VISIO - Strategic Sequencing Plan
  • Tracks progress towards Target Blueprint Analysis
  • Provides conceptual roadmap to target
    architecture
  • Tracks systems to be eliminated, consolidated,
    and re-engineered
  • Informs project, program, and portfolio
    management
  • Maximizes reuse of cross-cutting eGov and
    horizontal infrastructure services

Improvements to the DOI System inventory
management within DEAR
27
Improvements to the DOI System inventory
management within DEAR
  • Systems up for removal will not show on reports
or wizard (largest request). They will be marked
as checked out to the OCIO/ADMIN.
  • Systems in your portfolio will remain unfrozen,
but systems being worked on as part of Financial,
Law, Fire, or Recreation will be marked for
    checkout to the IEA Teams
  • Better distinctions between system architecture
    properties and system inventory properties
  • Improved System Inventory Attributes in areas of
    (20 Changes)
  • Financial
  • Governance including GAO, Section 508 and eGov
  • Security and Essential Systems
  • Trust (Master Trust System ID)

Improvements Wizard tool, Data, and "In Queue"
32
Wizard tool improvements
  • Wizard Tool
  • Capability to add subsystems or components
    through wizard
  • When adding, better way to add inventory and
    basic properties
  • Can now save BRM and PRM relationships along with
    SRM and TRM
  • Search TimeSaver Quick Demo
  • Friendly description of Reference Model Items
  • Adding a Tech Spec (Pending until DOI TRM team
    reviews)

33
Other Data improvements (cont.)
  • Data Improvements
  • Item marked for REMOVE are checked out to OCIO
  • Items being edited by IEA team for Modernization
    Blueprints marked checked out
  • Phase Validation Reports will not show items that
    are CHECKED OUT or frozen
  • System to Data Subject Area data loaded
  • A requested to refresh of ITIPS/FEAMS data is
    being coordinated.
  • Reminder Sensitive Data Rules in your BEAR
  • TRM and Deployment links to systems other than
your portfolio, you will not be able to see
  • Bureau Systems not in your portfolio, you will
    be able to see

The Wizard tool or Canned Reports will not show
any items checked out or frozen
34
Phase III Sneak Peak Reports and Scope
