Failover Mode

• Allows clinical team to document even when
  central system (CDR) is not available
• What to expect in Failover
• Users will be notified that connection is lost
  when data from the CDR is requested.
• Application appearance changes in failover mode
• Data and functionality is limited
• When CDR is back up users must log out and back
  in again

In Normal mode. Connection is lost to the CDR.
User is not notified until an action forces the
application to look for information from the CDR.

• Indicators of Failover Mode
• Failover notification in Title bar.
• Folder List only contains supported modules.

• Encounter Summary Failover
• Limited data notifications.
• Autocite
• If its a scheduled appointment, auto-cite
  displays all data.
• If its a walk-in created after failover,
  Problems and Fam Hx, not available.
• No access to Template Management (Action bar and
  Folder List).

• Due Reminders tab not available.
• Special Work Status cannot be modified.

• Vital Signs, Review Tab Failover
• If its a scheduled appt., vitals associated with
  last four prev. encounters are available.

• Vital Signs, Entry tab Failover
• No change.

• S/O Failover
• No access to S/O Template Management.
• Any template loaded (Clinic, MTF or Enterprise)
  to the current encounter before failover, will
  remain as part of the current encounter.

• No access to Template Management.
• Any template loaded (Clinic, MTF or Enterprise)
  to the current encounter before failover, will
  remain as part of the current encounter.

• Disposition Failover
• Special Work Status cannot be modified.

• Appointments Failover
• Default filter shows only Todays appointments.
• Telephone Consults are displayed and created in
  the Appts. module.
• Action bar does not contain all actions.

• Appointments After Recovery
• Appointments created or started when in Failover
  mode display a status of Checked in on CHCS I (if
  the encounter has not progressed beyond check-in).

• Search criteria based on CHCS.
• Limited options.
• Can select to view Telcons.

• Search CHCS only.
• Limited search fields.

• List Management Failover
• Lists can be changed during a failover session
  but will only be available until connection is
  restored. Changes made during failover do not
  write back to the CDR as part of recovery.

• Co-signs Failover
• Only encounters completed during failover mode
  are available for co-signing.

• Demographics Failover
• Read only from CHCS.

• Health History Failover
• Only data available from the LCD (scheduled
  appts) and that pulled from CHCS will be
  available for review.

• Allergies read/write to/from CHCS.
• Can add a new allergy but only Allergen can be
  documented. (Why? That is the only field in CHCS!)

• Lab Failover
• Labs read from CHCS.
• Time period search is limited.

• Meds read from CHCS.
• OTC meds cannot be documented. (Why? There is no
  corresponding field in CHCS!)

• Radiology results read from CHCS.
• Time period search is limited.

• Problems Failover
• Data read from LCD (scheduled appts).
• Health Care Maintenance and Dental Readiness are
  unavailable.
• Associated encounters and orders are not
  available.

• Immunizations Failover
• Only those vaccines given during failover mode
  will display on the Vaccine History tab.

• Previous Encounters Failover
• Data read from LCD.
• For scheduled appts., up to last four previous
  encounters displayed.
• These four encounters can be amended or appended
  if the user is logged in to the same clinic in
  which the encounters were created.

• Color coded depending on when the reminder is
  due.
