3Welcome and Introduction
- Adur and Worthing Councils Planning,
Regeneration and Wellbeing Team. Does what it
says on the tin! A joint working structure
committed to the planning and provision of sport
and healthy activity for local people in Adur and
Worthing - The Sussex County Sports Partnership Trust is the
key agency responsible for the strategic planning
and co-ordination, marketing and performance
management of sport and physical activity within
the county. - A primary role of the Trust is to facilitate (and
demonstrate the impact of) increased
participation in sport and active recreation.
Also to support the development of effective
community sport networks within our Local
Authority areas. To add value, to help generate
income and offer strategic guidance and
information in support of local sports plans and
projects.

6National Sport policy and priorities
- PSA 21 To build more cohesive, empowered and
active communities. Indicator 6 looks at the
percentage of people who take part in culture and
sport. - National Indicator 8 to increase the take up of
cultural and sporting opportunities by adults
aged 16 from priority groups by 2million people - In particular, and increasing participation in
moderate level sport at least 3x a week, by 3
330,000 (SE), 28000 (WSx), 2200 more active
participants in Adur and 3,600 more for Worthing - PSA 22 To deliver a successful Olympic and
Paralympic games with a sustainable legacy and
get more children and young people taking part in
high quality PE and Sport (e.g. Extending
Activities/5 hour offer) - PSA 12 Improve the health and wellbeing of
children and young people. Indicators reducing
levels of childhood obesity and improving the
emotional health and well-being of children (e.g.
MEND projects)

- To build the foundations of sporting success
through a world-leading community sport system. -

- ensure that talented people of all backgrounds

experience and is able to fulfil their potential

Olympics firmly on the government's agenda, it's
a chance for both sporting and non-sporting
agencies in Sussex to - look at how sport and physical activity can be
effectively utilised to benefit communities, - meet outcomes reflected in community strategies
and local area agreements. - attract investment

- AW Sports Forum could be an effective and more
strategic way of working to achieve common
outcomes - CASE STUDY an example of some agencies that are
already working in this way Brighton Hove
Sports Forum schools, NGBs, LA, University,
media, private sector 10,000 participants on
day 1 alone. - CSN development is not about putting in place
another layer of bureaucracy its about
communication and delivery in partnership.

- AW Sports Forum would be a key component of the
Trust - AW Sports Forum would provide the critical
linkage between the Trust and sports providers at
local level - The relationship is vital two-way flow of
information and resources and the achievement of
mutually agreed outcomes - The Sports Forum and the Trust would ideally work
together to interpret county, regional and
national policy in the context of local needs and
priorities - Ensuring the right information is in place
relating to progress on key measures of
performance demonstrating the case for investment

25Investment for Forum Projects
- NGB funding from 2009-13 is 100M-120M per year
depending on the quality of plans submitted to
Sport England. This may give rise to budgets for
county or local sports programme as per NGB
priorities. - Core funding for CSPs to support its CSN
network in terms of strategic planning and
marketing - Five hour offer funding (Extending Activities)
500k over three years. Managed by the CSP, there
is potential for the AW Sport Forum to bid into
this pot of funding - Sport England Themed funding rounds (subject to
