Purpose
  • To provide an overview of C4 assets that DOD,
    USNORTHCOM, subordinate units, and component
    forces use for deployable communications in
    training and contingency scenarios.
    Additionally, provide a capability matrix that
    can be used to assist the C4 planning process.

USNORTHCOM History
  • Based on events of 9-11, the President wanted a
    single military command for homeland defense
  • Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint
    Chiefs of Staff recommended establishment of
    USNORTHCOM
  • April 2002announced by Secretary of Defense
  • October 1, 2002activated
  • September 11, 2003achieved Full Operational
    Capability

  • The 93rd SIG BDE provides two deployable

    and Medium) will support over 150 users and
    differ only in long haul satellite terminal. The
    Medium Package uses an AN/TSC-93D and the Heavy
    Package uses an AN/TSC-85D.

    10-15 personnel

  • SC2IP provides high-speed, secure and non-secure
    voice, data, and video teleconferencing
    capability for up to 40 users. The SC2IP extends
    Global Information Grid (GIG) services (SIPRNET,
    NIPRNET, DSN, Voice over Secure IP, DVS-G) or
    commercial services (Internet, commercial
    telephony) over military or commercial satellite
    from DoD STEP/Teleports to Tier 1 and Tier 2
    locations
