Software

• Compass Learning Software will provide K-12 grade
  curriculum based on two essential components math
  and language-arts/reading.
• Compass Learning reading/language arts and math
  curricula merge the best instructional
  strategies and practices with effective
  instructional software design.
• Compass Learning uses a balanced approach of
  direct instruction and project-based
  instructional activities so that the curriculum
  meets the individual needs of students and
  enables students to become active participants in
  the learning process.

• A diagnostic/prescriptive assessment mirroring
  the objectives of the Arkansas Curriculum
  Frameworks, diagnoses students competencies on
  each critical state objective.
• Compass Learning identifies skills that students
  have not mastered and automatically prescribes
  and individualized learning path
  (objective-by-objective) to accelerate and
  remediate student learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Where will my student participate in STXs
  Supplemental Services?
• Each student will participate during
  before-school, after-school, or Saturday tutoring
  sessions. The actual session time will be
  determined by the local community. There may be
  special circumstances allowed for those students
  with high-speed internet access to work on the
  software from home.

• How will I be notified of my childs progress?
• Each parent will receive a bi-monthly report
  detailing their students time on task, progress
  through the learning paths, and achievement
  scores on learning activities.
• How many hours will my child spend per week
  working in the software?
• Students will typically spend a minimum of three
  hours per week working with the Compass Learning
  software. Additional time may be spent if the
  student has access to a high-speed internet
  computer in the home.
• Will there be a charge for my student to
  participate in this program?
• ALL expenses regarding the STX program are paid
  by the school district for those students
  targeted by the local school as needing
  Supplemental Educational Services.
  Transportation is typically the responsibility of
  the parent although it may be provided by the
  local school district under certain conditions.

• What incentives will be provided to motivate my
  student to excel in the program?
• As a student achieves mastery on a particular
  level or skill, he/she will be awarded points
  that can be redeemed for prizes.
