Mamma Mia

• The producer, Judy Craymer, wanted to produce a
  musical that featured ABBA songs. The British
  playwright, Catherine Johnson captured the
  imagination of Judy Craymer, who later produced
  the musical that would become known as Mamma
  Mia. On April 6, 1999, the premier performance
  of Mamma Mia poured into London, where the
  production astonished the audience into singing
  and dancing in the aisles.

The Plot

• The musical is about a mother and daughter who
  lives on a Greek island. The daughter, Sophie,
  is about to be married, and she wants her father
  at the wedding. The problem is that her and her
  mother, Donna, do not know who the father is.
  There are three possible dads that are invited to
  attend the ceremony, in hopes that the daughter
  will somehow recognize him.

The Plot

• The mother invites two of her ex-backup singers,
  Tanya and Rosie, to the wedding. Sky, the
  boyfriend, has a wild night before the wedding
  resulting in Sophie having cold feet. After
  everything is said and done, it works out fine at
  the end.
