About

• A collaborative project between the Sea Scouts
  and Finnish Institute of Marine Research (FIMR)
• Scouts observe algae and measure sechi depth
  during sailing trips and camps
• Results are sent to FIMR via sms, telephone or
  internet

Purpose

• The Baltic Sea is eutrophicated, e.g. blue-green
  algae
• The intention is to help young people understand
  their responsibility as seafarers to improve
  knowledge about marine protection

• Completes the scout program and provides more
  activities
• during long sailing trips
• Puts the scout ideal into
• practice
