How WIC Works

What We Do

• WIC manages the Marshman Fund, which was began
  as a 20,000 endowment and has since grown
  through further donations and capital
  appreciation to approximately 100,000
• We are a club for people with an interest in the
  financial markets, and offer an opportunity to
  meet and learn from others that share the same
  interests

What We Do

• Many members of the club have moved on to
  impressive careers in the securities industry
• WIC meetings are an excellent chance to learn
  about the markets both for personal investments
  and/or for a career in financial services

Meetings

• Week-in-Review
• 5-10 minute overview of the markets and how they
  affected our holdings.
• Done by our Co-Chief Economists
• Educational Presentation
• 20-30 minute presentation where we teach a
  topic/technique. (i.e. famous investors, bonds,
  ratios, derivatives, IPOs, etc)
• Done by Analysts
• Buy/Sell Presentation
• 20-30 minute presentation where we propose to
  either sell one of our existing holdings or buy a
  a new holding.
• Done by Analyst and Researchers

Getting Involved

• Analysts
• Competitive position
• Present educational and buy/sell presentations
  with the assistance of a research team
• Several spots available for 2005-2006
• Need some background knowledge about investing
  and the markets
• Additional commitment
• 1 hr analyst meetings on Thursdays
• 1 hr meeting with your research group
• Open to everyone even first years!
• Pick up an application from the front at the end
  of the meeting

Getting Involved

• Economists (Senior/Junior)
• New position
• Competitive, similar to analyst position
• Keep the analysts and general members up to date
  with weekly briefs on economic trends and events
  that affect us
• Dont necessarily have to be an economics major
• Present week in review updates at general
  meetings
• Interested? Fill out an analyst application AND
  come see us at the end of the meeting

Researchers

• Open to everyone if you want to be a
  researcher, well find you a spot
• No knowledge necessary
• Meet with and learn from your analysts
• Assist with preparation and delivery of Buy/Sell
  presentations
• Additional 0.5-1hr/week commitment
• Gain more knowledge and work your way into an
  analyst position!
