2The Establishing Years 2009-2012
3We have a vision . . . A vision of what God
would do in and through Cayman Islands Baptist
Churchfor His glory in the coming years!
4Gods Vision for us . . .
- Understands and affirms our heritage
- Inspires and challenges us to align ourselves
with His plan and purpose for our congregation
today and, - Engages us and commits us to a future that is as
exciting as the promises of God!
5Gods Vision for us . . .
- At this time is for the period, 2009-2020
- Recognizes the following phases of life and
development - The Beginning Years, 2005-2008
- The Establishing Years, 2009-2011
- The Expanding Years, 2012-2014
- The Multiplying Years, 2015-2017
- The Ministry Years, 2018-2020
- Is not about us the vision is about Jesus and
His glory!
6- So, lets begin! Let begin by . . .
- Understanding and affirming our heritage!
-
7We understand that . . .
- Baptist work in Grand Cayman was--
- Birthed in prayer by a group of Cayman Brac
Baptists who had relocated to Cayman - Nurtured in infancy and the early years by the
leadership and love of Herbert and Jackie Neely,
the first Baptist missionaries to Grand Cayman
(1977) - Established within the mainstream of Baptist
life, belief, mission, and polity, working
closely with the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship and
the Southern Baptist Convention (US)
International Mission Board - Grounded in biblical preaching and teaching
- Led by the Holy Spirit, resulting in spiritual
and numerical growth through the years until this
present time.
8We further understand that . . .
- Cayman Islands Baptist Church--
- Was born in prayer in 2005 with a sincere desire
to establish a new Baptist work in Grand Cayman
in keeping with out historic faith and in pursuit
of providing both a community of love and a
faithful witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ - Was nurtured in the beginning years through the
lives and ministry of Lambert and Denise Mills,
and through the mature leadership of the Steering
Committee - Has been faithful in prayer, exemplary in walk,
generous in stewardship, and, strong in ministry
and, - Has been led by the Holy Spirit. The
congregation has enjoyed a time of peace and
has grown into a body of believers consecrated
for the amazing things God will do in the years
ahead.
9We affirm a heritage of faith expressing itself
through love, a legacy of . . .
10- Loving . . . Loving God with a passion for Him
that leads us to worship loving each other as
members of the Body of Christ, and loving people
with acts of kindness and by sharing the greatest
love story that has ever been toldthe Good News
of Jesus Christ!
11- Learning . . . Learning of Jesus, learning His
Word, and learning to trust and obey Himwe
understand that discipleship is a life-long
following of Jesus and learning of Him!
12- Leading . . . Leading by serving doing not what
everyone else is doing, but taking the lead of
Jesus, serving one another and the people who
need Him!
13- Living . . . Living out our faith by daily
trusting Him to provide all that we need for life
and ministry, and thus, being salt and light on
our island!
14- Letting . . . Letting Christ be God in and
through us as we submit to His Lordship for His
glory!
15- These past three years have been the beginning
years of all that God wants to do in and through
us! - We have recently celebrated new beginnings with
the dedication of our facilities and our lives
for the next stage of our journey. -
16- And now, beyond the celebration and dedication,
we are . . . - Inspired and challenged to align ourselves with
His plan and purpose for our church family for
the coming years! -
17Lets begin with some questions that will help us
understand who we are and what we are called to

satellite ministry in the West Bay/Seven Mile
Beach area in the next three five years,
reaching a different group of people and
establishing a Baptist work and witness in that

38The 2020 Vision
- We see Cayman Islands Baptist Church effectively
reaching out with the Good News of Jesus Christ
and seeing hundreds come to faith, be baptized,
and become responsible members of the Church.
The vision of 1,000 new believers in worship and

41The 2020 Vision

unfold even more in the days ahead as we pray
together and seek Him! - For I am going to do something in your days that
you would not believe, even if you were told.
Habakkuk 15
42- What must we do to see this vision become a
reality?
43- 1. We must believe! We must place our faith in
Christ so that He works in our hearts by His
Spirit, leading us to passionately love Him that
we might risk our lives for the Gospel.
44- 2. We must consistently and thoroughly proclaim
and teach the Good News of Jesus Christ so that
every person has not only an understanding of
what it means to be saved by His grace through
faith alone, but also what it means to live by
His grace through faith alone. We must raise up
a generation of Christians who understand that
without Christ, we can do nothing, but that we
can do everything through Him Who gives us
strength. (Philippians 26-7 413)
45- 3. We must invest unusual amounts of time,
energy, talent, and resources in offering love
and compassion for a hurting world so that
everyone will see our good works and glorify
God.
