Artist Statement
  • As a student with creativity, art is the best way
to express myself. As an artist I would have to
say that most of my work resembles my ideas about
life and art itself. So in whatever I do, I try
to make the best of it and try to succeed.  The
part of helping people and excelling in my ideas
made me realize that I can become an artist. I
had discovered I was able to help and show people
the greatness of art and what they can create.
It was one of the most inspiring things to do, to
    create something out of nothing.
  • My artwork is mostly about the places I imagine
or visit that drive me emotionally. The pastels
and paintings of landscapes that are created off
of a white sheet of paper bring wonders to
someones eyes. The landscapes or images that I
create display a very strong message.  A message
about strength and relaying the message to others
that we are here because someone gave up
something for us.  I would have to say that in
most of my pieces I try to display a meaning of
    life or emotions.
  • Throughout my years as being and artist I have
tried to use many different techniques. Using
different methods allows me to try different
things. The result is that my work as a variety
of looks.   Different techniques that are unknown
to the viewer also make them think about the
piece more.  That is my ultimate goal as an
artist, to make a viewer think about what they
are looking at.  Not only to connect with my
emotions and meaning for life, but for people to
also found theirs. I am hoping to create a bunch
of new pieces in the future and carry my talent
with me throughout life. I hope to use my
artistic talents with a career in the future and
a open road ahead of me.

Elongated Self Portrait
  • This portrait was used with pastels and created a
cartoon effect with the size. I enjoyed this
project a lot and it help me learn more about
blending techniques. My picture is a mix
between a cartoon and myself, which I thought
would describe me, I am silly but serious in
    certain moments.

House Landscape
  • The inspiration of this project came from a
country style picture. I was really motivated
and driven to start on it. It has taken me a
long process to complete but in the end all of
the detail will be worth it. This project showed
me how much time you can put into one piece and
the amount of respect you get from it. It is was
a large area to work with.

Photography Photo
  • This photo was the best one out of a series of
photos I took. It was taken in Baltimore after a
small trip for the weekend. It stands out to be
because of the positioning and light composure
    that shows on it.

Portrait of Katie
  • The graphite photo of someone else came to a
challenge for me. It was hard to shade and
define the lights and darks without using my
hands to smooth like I do with pastel. The live
portrait was hard because it felt like everyday I
returned to look at the subject matter, I was
never the same. In the end the portrait turned
out pretty good, there was some differences with
the person and the paper that I didnt get to
highlight but otherwise it was great.

Turtle
Size 8.5x11
  • Pointillism is one of my favorite projects to do.
It is a tedious task but it looks amazing once
completed. I choose to do a turtle because it
was an interesting animal to define the lights
and darks with. After going through a numerous
amount of pens and putting thousands of dots on a
piece of paper, the dots soon came together.
They formed a drawing that felt like a
    masterpiece.

Dog Portrait
  • The eyes become at strong focal point out of the
picture. The grass took a lot of detail to do
with the attention to darks and lights. It was
the first animal pastel drawing I have ever
created. It was difficult to point out the
    values but soon came together.

Linoleum
5x7
  • A free draw carving out of block. It was
difficult to carve and the risk of cutting your
self. The project was extremely time consuming
but in the end you could tell it paid off. For
some more than others. But it shows a great
difference in how some people look and view an
    object.

Final Project
  • As a final project in Art III I decided to create
something in my favourite medium that I can keep
as a great memory. Working with chalk can get
complicated sometimes but it has shown to be my
strongest medium. It feels as if the pastel has
a rhythm to it and it all looks unified as one.
It came out strong and came to be a great
    portrait.
