Gender, Democracy and Human Development
The Gender Perspective is based in the Gender
Theory, and this theory is interdisciplinary,
complex and integral. Explains, resolve
problems of research vinculated to the sexual
condition of the persons, providing an integral
scientific analysis.

The Gender Perspective develops a critical point
of view related to human conditions of life, the
access to resources and opportunities of
development, this is called the Gender
Analysis. The Gender Analysis makes a critic to
development when it doesn't place in its center
the human beings and their human rights as a
democratic process.

The organizations, institutions, government and
international aid should respond to the new
challenges of the development. For instance we
need to get different needs to provide women and
men an equitable development. We use equity
to access the equality, the clue is to build
first the equity and then you can think on the
idea of equality.

Gender and Health building the links

• Health is built and determined by
• the resources the person has access to,
• the fulfillment of the vital needs,
• the environment where they live.
• Thats why the gender condition for women
  determines their health status . The assigned
  contents by gender of womens lives, define their
  vital state, their risks, sicknesses, and
  symptoms. In the same way their potential for a
  healthy life and expectations of longevity.

The personal and the power relationships in which
women participate from their vital situation
formed by their gender, ethnicity, age, social
status, nationality are factors that determine
and impact their health state.

SOME OF THE BOTTLENECKS WHEN YOU DO THE GENDER
ANALYSIS IN HEALTH PROJECTS

• The majority of women has health problems some
  illnesses could have been prevented or avoided,
  non or bad attention and she experiences
  physical and subjective drain, all because the
  large number of activities expected from her, not
  caring for her health state and sexual and
  reproductive experiences, bad treatments and
  violence.
• Women share the medical mistreat produced by the
  hegemonic vision of the medical culture.

• Women are considered inferior beings, with no
  citizenship, like they dont belong.
• We need to convince to eliminate the in-human
  sense of a social development and of the public
  and cultural policies, most of the time we need
  to argue why is necessary to find an alternative
  for a human and democratic development based in
  the gender perspective

• We have not enough research with a gender
  approach, we need to re-elaborate the
  epistemology of the people who are doing research
  in a neutral way. We need the data for women and
  for men, not general data.
• The sub-registers of the information by the
  Ministry of Health in our countries related to
  the topics on this seminar.

• The lack of funds for investment in the research
  and to implement specific affirmative actions to
  increase the health of women.
• The need to incorporate a mainstreaming and the
  autonomy of gender analysis in the relationship
  with womens health.
• The lack of interconnectivity of topics related
  to researches on health, for instance the
  relationship between malaria and HIV and the
  increase of numbers of deaths of women.
