Student Target Group
  • Wildland firefighting agencies Initial
    attack incident commander (ICT4) and strike team
    leader (tractor/plow, dozer, engine, or crew).

    suburban and urban interface areas that may be
    threatened by wildland fire.

  • Knowledgeable of your agency firefighting policy
    as it relates to wildland/urban interface fires.
  • Wildland firefighting agencies Students should
    be single resource boss qualified (tractor/plow,
    dozer, engine, or crew). See Wildland and

    310-1 for requirements.

Course Objective
  • This course provides the student with the
    skills and knowledge to size-up a wildland/urban
    interface fire incident, evaluate the potential
    situation, order and deploy the necessary
    resources, and apply safe and effective strategy
    and tactics to minimize the threat to life and
    property.

  • Unit objectives are located at the beginning
    of each unit and define what the student will be
    able to do at the completion of the unit.

  • 28 hour course
  • Designed to be interactive with PowerPoint
    visuals and videotape presentations.
  • Contains exercises which facilitate student
    learning and class discussion.

Class Representation
  • Each agency represented in this class has policy

    wildland/urban interface fires.
  • This course presents both structure and wildland
    firefighting tactics. Students are to implement
    those tactics that are within their agency
    policy.

Unit Tests and Final Examination
  • Students must obtain an average score of 70
    percent or higher on the closed book unit tests
    and final examination to receive a certificate
    of completion for the course.
