Ontario Secondary School Diploma

• Students must earn 30 credits (18 compulsory and
  12 optional credits)
• French Immersion 21 compulsory 9 optional
  Credits)
• 4 credits in English (1 credit per grade)
• 1 credit in French as a second language 4th
  French for French Immersion
• 3 credits in mathematics
• 2 credits in science
• 1 credit in Canadian history
• 1 credit in Canadian geography

APPRENTICESHIP
UNIVERSITY
On the Job Training Plus college courses leading
to Certification 3-5 yrs.
Theoretical Independent Learning - the goal is
to expand knowledge in a specific area 4 yr.

COLLEGE

• Applied learning with all courses directed to
  training for a specific career leads to a 2 or
  3 yr Diploma.
• NEW some Colleges offer university degree
  programs in specific areas

Grade 11 Marks

• When applying to College and Universities all
  your grade 11 marks will be listed.
• Your secondary school will provide final grades
  for your previously completed 3U/M and 4U/M
  courses on your application before sending it to
  the OUAC.
• Then, in early February, your school will provide
  final grades for completed first-semester
  courses.
• Once all your required academic data has been
  received, the universities may issue early
  conditional offers of admission. Each university
  will determine its own criteria for these
  conditional offers. These decisions will be based
  on some combination of 3U/M and 4U/M
  courses/grades available at that time.

POST SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS

• COLLEGE
• Average in grade 1112 courses of high 60s and
  70s (depends on program and school)
• Courses may be studied at C or U level
• Degree granting programs require 6 gr12 U / M
  courses
• Need to check individual schools programs for
  specific requirements

• UNIVERSITY
• Requires a min. of 6 gr12 courses with an average
  of low 70s to high 80s depending on the program
  school
• Most schools require 4 U courses and 2 M however
  that varies from school to school
• Need to check individual schools programs for
  specific requirements

Sheet Metal Worker

• Apprenticeship is a hands-on training program for
  people who want to work in skilled trades or
  occupations.
• The remainder involves related theoretical
  training, usually obtained at a college of
  applied arts and technology or another approved
  training delivery agency.
• Individualized contract or training plan between
  a person who wants to learn a skilled trade and a
  training sponsor or an employer.

HOW DOES THE OPTION PROCESS WORK?

• Students select a 8 courses for the following
  year
• Students receive verification forms through
  period 1
• From these selections a determination is made on
  which classes will run in 2010/11 and how many
  sections will be allocated
• The opportunities for students to make changes of
  compulsory courses will be very limited.

Password Setup Screen

• In the first box type in your 9 digit student
  number. Be sure to include all 0s.
• For your first time logging in you must typeopt

Change Password Screen

• In the first box type in your 9 digit student
  number. Be sure to include all 0s.
• Type opt in the Old Password box.
• Type a new password in the New Password box,
  then type the same password in the Confirm New
  Password box.
• Click on the Submit button.
• Once you login you will see the following screen

Option Form Course Selection

• TO ADD A COURSE select the course from the
  Course Options box with a mouse click and then
  click on the gtgt button. Be sure to double
  check that the course code is correct.
• TO REMOVE A COURSE select the course from the
  Selected Options box with a mouse click and
  then click on the ltlt button.
• If you click on the List of Chosen Options
  (printable format) link, you will then see a
  confirmation report similar to the one on the
  next screen. Print a copy of this report for
  your record.

Course Requests Display Screen

• Check that all of your course selections are
  correct and that you have only selected each
  course once. Then click on the Exit link to
  close out of the application.
• If you wish to change your selections, click
  Back to Option Input Screen. You will then be
  able to change your selections.

Final Notes

• Once you exit the application you can access it
  again to change your selections until the
  submission cut-off date
• If you do not make selections, WE will select for
  you.
