The 6 Issues Effecting Our World!!!

• Issue 1 Rapid Rate of Climate Change
• The Problem Over the last century us as human
  beings are destroying the atmosphere by the
  amount of Carbon Dioxide being released into the
  air. Instead of us walking places we hop in the
  car, bus or another source of transport. High
  levels of this gas are turning the atmosphere
  into a heat -trap. Most scientists agree that the
  earth is overall becoming warmer. This is called
  Global Warming.

• Issue 2 The Ozone Layer
• The Problem Without the ozone layer in the
  atmosphere our skin
• would burn even on a dull day. Also Skin cancer
  would occur more and the ozone layer protects us
  from the suns most harmful
• ultra-violet. CFC (chlorofluorocarbon)
  gases. They were used widely until recently in
  fridges and aerosol cans. Some still use them
  because they are cheaper to produce.

• Issue 3 Acid Rain
• The problem Gases from cars and factories go
  into the atmosphere and dissolve into droplets of
  rain, in this way rain can turn to acid this is
  called Acid Rain. As acid rain falls it burns
  in plants, in trees and in animal. The diagram
  below explains it a bit more.

Issue 4 Fresh Water The Problem Isnt there
enough water for everyone? A United Nations
report for the2003 World Water Forum warned that
the amount of fresh water per person is getting
less. It may be 33 per cent less by 2020. There
are already tensions about the supply of water
between Israel and Palestine, between India and
Bangladesh and between Egypt and countries
further up the Nile river. Water may become a
cause of conflict in this century (just like oil
in the twentieth century).

• Issue 5 Air Pollution (smog)
• The Cause Gases from cars and factories do not
  always blow away. When there is no wind, the
  amounts of these gases in the air will increase.
  When the level of these gases is high, the air
  becomes dangerous to breathe. This is called Air
  Pollution.

• Issue 6 Electronic Waste (E-Waste)
• What is E-Waste? It is old computers, mobile
  phones, computer and television and other
  electric equipment.
• The problem On average , computer and television
  screens contains 2-4 kilograms of lead that gets
  into the soil. Lead is POISIONOUS to humans and
  animals. E-Waste is increasing!!!

• Respect Humans today exploit the earth. They
  live as if they are being left in charge of it
  means doing what they please with its resources.
  Looking after the earth means treating it and all
  it with respect. God wants us to do this and
  encourage others to do the same.

• Reduce The amount of food we waste is a sin. The
  earths natural resources wont last forever they
  are going to run out unless we change and soon.
  If we only use what is needed and if we do this
  we will we lat earths natural resources last
  longer.

• Recycle Many households throw out waste which
  can be recycled. For example over 80 of
  household waste is packaging. Looking after the
  earth means more recycling. Littering and
  illegal disposal of waste items is unnecessary.

• Reuse Now the credit crunch is here it is time
  for us to take out our old clothes and start
  wearing them again. When you buy a bottle of
  water why not refill rather than buy a new bottle
  of water.

• Reflect When people reflect they become known
  to their inner peace and reflect on their daily
  things, in relation to what they have done right
  or wrong and they will try to change it.

My Plan for looking after the Earth!!!

• I will make sure to abide by the 5 Rs and stick
  to them. Try to buy things like batteries which
  are recyclable or rechargeable, wear clothes that
  have been in my wardrobe for a while, pick up
  litter and dispose of it correctly.

• Pollution
• Littering
• Wasting water
• Recycling incorrectly
• Cutting down trees
