  • The Center for Information and Communication
    Technology for Education (Pustekkom) has
    conducted a small scope survey over 10 Senior
    Secondary Schools in Jakarta.

  • All the schools under the survey have had a
    certain policy to add computer in
    intra-curricular activity as a subject.
  • The main purpose was to facilitate students to
    use computer and internet to search, gather and
    process the information to support their learning.

  • ICT materials taught in the class
  • MS Office (MSWord, MSExcel and MSPowerpoint)
  • Creative Design (Photoshop and Coreldraw)
  • Internet (search engine, e-mail and mailing-list)

  • Four patterns in the use of internet for learning
  • The school designated a teacher to search and
    find information from the internet as needed by
    the subject teachers
  • Teachers with computer (internet) literacy should
    search and find by themselves any information
    that is necessary through internet kiosks or
    internet in school.
  • Teachers identify any necessary sites needed by
    students on each topics of certain subject, and
    then assign students to study the information at
    home (through internet).
  • Students based on their initiatives search and
    find information through internet.

  • 2- 5 persons for ICT personnel.
  • The personnel got the ICT skills from
    self-learning and trainings (Web design, MS
    Office, Creative Design, and Network training

  • 40 to 50 units of PC (40 units are placed in
    computer laboratory)

  • 1 unit LCD Projector
  • 4 units printers
  • Most have dial-up connection to ISP

    level and the teachers to adopt ICT as a mean to
    support the learning process
  • No intergration of ICT into school curricula
  • Facility and connectivity
  • Not enough and unequal distribution of ICT
    facilities
  • Lack of sufficient bandwidth and
  • Limited access to ICT facilities
  • Lack of Funding
  • Lack of local on line learning materials
  • Lack of ICT Human resources in terms of quantity
    and quality

    educational staffs at national and school level

    Projector, and internet connection

  • Assist the schools to raise budget by
    collaborating with other parties
  • Prepare competent human resources in ICT through
    trainings or recruit personnel with ICT
    background.
