What is CID?

• CID College Integrated Database
• CID is BCC's main computer application (which is
  housed on a Linux platform).  
• CID is used to support and assist both student
  and business functions through Web access and PC
  based terminal access.  Students use CID to apply
  to BCC for admissions, register and pay for
  classes, as well as viewing their grades.  
• Staff use CID to accomplish every critical aspect
  of running a large college.  CID is an
  implementation of FCCSC's (Florida Community
  College Software Consortium) Integrow System and
  it is also by used by several other community
  colleges in Florida and several additional
  colleges outside of our state.
• CID contains a majority of the business logic
  required to maintain the data in the files in the
  system.
• The business logic is the rules as defined by the
  user community regarding how to handle
  maintenance of the data.
• Most of the web applications at BCC are not stand
  alone they require interfaces with CID to
  request the data and they use the business logic
  defined in CID to maintain the data.

What is a Port? A Port is a dataset released
annually by FCCSC which contains new
functionality as well as corrections to current
functionality (bug fixes). The Port must be
tested by the user community and approved for
implementation by Port Leaders.
