• I am the liaison from NATO Allied Committee 135
  to SC4
• AC/135 manages the NATO Codification System (NCS)
  
• The NCS is a standard system of numbering, naming
  describing items of supply
• AC/135 has representatives from 25 NATO countries
  has an official relationship with 28 non-NATO
  countries from around the world

• 192 unique member companies, organizations or
  individuals from 27 countries
• in addition to the ECCMA members there are 1,500
  companies in 82 countries that are researching or
  implementing the eOTD
• An average of more than 6,000 weekly unique
  visitors log on to the ECCMA.org Website

• ISO 22745 is an e-catalog standard based on the
  NATO Codification System
• ISO 8000 is a standard for information quality
  similar in concept to the ISO 9000 series of
  standards
• ISO 22745 8000 were proposed within SC4 by ECCMA

Accomplishments since Italy

• NATO AC/135 hosted an ISO 22745 ISO 8000
  seminar in May in Luxembourg City
• The purpose of the seminar was to educate the NCS
  community on eOTD, the ISO standards related to
  it, and current status
• The event was attended by 82 delegates from 41
  countries from around the world

Accomplishments since Italy

• Steven Arnett Peter Benson conducted an eOTD
  seminar and meetings in South Africa in May
• Mr. Benson is ECCMAs executive director
• Mr. Arnett is DLISs Deputy Chief of
  International Cataloging
• Two seminars were held
• One was attended by 24 representatives from
  mining and railway companies and the IT companies
  that work for them
• The other was for government, standards, and
  industry representatives and was hosted by the
  South Africa Board of Standards (SABS)

• As a result of these seminars, SABS decided to
  join SC4 as a P member
• There is a consensus in South Africa among
  government, industry standards groups that eOTD
  shall become the national standard
• Mr. Benson Mr. Arnett have been invited back to
  South Africa to conduct another seminar in
  September

Accomplishments since Italy

• Mr. Benson Dr. Gerald Radack, WG3 convener,
  conducted an eOTD seminar in June in Chile
• The seminar was attended by 35 representatives
  from various Chilean industries, including
  mining, paper, chemical, as well as public
  procurement that collectively represent over 50
  of the countries economic activity

• There is a consensus in Chile among government
  and industry is that the eOTD should be promoted
  as a national standard
• The purpose of both the South Africa Chile
  seminars was to work through actual
  implementation of the eOTD
