White House

• The White House is located at 1600 Pennsylvania
  Avenue in Washington,D.C. The president lives
  and works there. It was completed in 1800. The
  British burned it down.

Bald Eagle

• It became a symbol in 1782. Because it symbolized
  strength courage freedom and immortality. The
  bald eagle is a large powerful brown bird with a
  white head and tail.

Mount Rushmore

• Mount Rushmore is located in the Black Hills of
  South Dakota. It is a carving of four presidents
  on the side of a mountains. It was finished in
  1927. A similar memorial honoring Crazy Horse.

Star Spangled Banner

• Francis Scott Key. It was written in 1931.
  Because the star spangled Banner became our
  national anthem. President Woodrow Wilson
  ordered that it be played at military and naval
  occasions.
