Who are we?
  • The National Research Council of Canada
  • Funds and manages 16 specialized research
    institutes across Canada
  • IRAP is an arm of the NRC dedicated to interact
    with industry
  • IRAPs front line consists of 240 Industrial
    Technology Advisors (ITAs) located in 100
    communities across the country.
  • 75 of ITAs have their Masters or PhD and all
    have 10 or more years experience in either
    industry or research.
  • In BC there are approximately 34 ITAs with
    diverse specializations co-located at NRC and
    post-secondary institutes.
  • Two IRAP ITAs in North/Central BC with head
    office in Prince George
  • Michael Kerr, BSc (Chem.), MBA
  • Geoffrey Clarke, PEng, BASc (Mech.), MBA
  • 70 Mile House north to the Yukon, Queen
    Charlottes to the Alberta boarder

What can we offer?
  • The Industrial Research Assistance Program
  • Core clients are small or medium sized ST based
    companies
  • we provide linkages to NRC resources such as
    other ITAs knowledgeable in their field, NRC
    Institutes, Canadian Institute for Scientific and
    Technical Information (CISTI) information
    specialists for technical, business and patent
    searches
  • connections to other federal and provincial
    bodies such as Natural Resources Canada (NRCan),
    ministries, departments and ec-dev offices
  • linkages to post secondary institutes and
    researchers
  • funding to companies toward research and
    development labour either internal staff or RD
    contractors (including post secondary
    researchers)
  • funding for companies to hire recent post
    secondary graduates in permanent positions
  • Contributions to not for-profit organizations
    that benefit the ST community
  • Can provide advice to any entrepreneur wanting
    to start a ST based company
