YISP workshop
  • YISP works with young people when their
    behaviour is beginning to cause concern in the
    family home, the community and at school. This
    workshop will explore different YISP cases and
    will explore the strategies employed by YISP
    workers to support young people to make informed
    choices.

Who are we?

  • We are individually line managed within our LST
    areas.
  • Overall countywide responsibility is with Robert
    Sampson.

When would we get involved?
  • When there are concerns (from any stakeholder)
    around the Young Persons behaviour
  • in the community
  • at home
  • at school
  • To provide early interventions to prevent the
    escalation of issues.

Referrals
  • Request for involvements (RFI) from
  • partner agencies (including Police, GPs, CAMHS)
  • LST colleagues
  • Parents and/or Carers
  • Young People
  • Assessed by the LST SMT and, if appropriate,
    allocated to YISP Worker

Taken on if
  • Aged 7-13 years old
  • Possibility of an exclusion from school
  • Anti-social behaviour out of school time
  • Substance misuse
  • Family breakdown
  • Young Person has had a reprimand or final warning
    from the Police
  • YISP worker has room on caseload if not may be
    placed on a waiting list

(Unfortunately) we are unable to take on the case
if
  • Young Person is not in 7-13 age group
  • Young Person is on the child protection register
  • Young Person is accommodated
  • There are 3 or more agencies already involved
  • Young Person becomes involved in the criminal
    justice system (received above a final warning)

    supporting the Young Person to make informed
    choices and decisions.
