Work Based Learning (CO-OP)

What Is CO-OP?

• It is a Worked Based Learning program offered
  through Floresville High School that gives
  eligible the chance to gain first hand experience
  in the world of work.

Who Is Eligible

• All high school seniors in good standing with the
  school (grades, behavior, and attendance) are
  eligible for the Work Based Learning Program.

Course Structure

• This program is set-up with classroom and
  training station participation.
• Students spend one period every day in the
  classroom setting and up to three periods during
  school hours (and optional after school hours) in
  their training station.

Classroom Activities

• Here, students will complete various assignments
  used to promote computer skills, job knowledge,
  interview skills, and professionalism.
• Students will also complete the training and
  testing needed to gain several useful job
  certifications.
• Guest and motivational speakers also frequent the
  classroom setting.

OSHA Safety Certification

• One of the certifications is the OSHA On-Line
  Safety Certification.
• Employers are increasingly mandating safety
  training. The certification you will earn here is
  recognized and honored by all possible training
  stations.

MOS Certification

• The MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist)
  Certification test your knowledge of computer
  usage in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
  Access, Publisher, and Outlook.
• Students will first certify in Microsoft Word and
  will later have the option to certify in all
  other Microsoft Office Programs.

• All jobs and training stations must be approved
  by your Work Based Learning Coordinator.

Training Station Grades

• Grades from the training station part of the Work
  Based Learning Program come from employer
  evaluations through your co-op coordinator
• Students are evaluated on human relations,
  dependability, judgment, alertness, housekeeping,
  job knowledge, attendance, accuracy,
  industriousness, and personal appearance.

Human Relations

• The dealing smoothly and effectively with others
  by displaying friendliness, courtesy, and
  cooperativeness.

Dependability

• Doing jobs well with minimum supervision.

Judgment

• The ability to make sound decisions.

Alertness

• The ability to meet change and to solve problems

Housekeeping

• The keeping or your work area orderly and clean

Job Knowledge

• The information about job duties and safety
  procedures for satisfactory job performance.

Attendance

• Working daily and conforming to work hours.
  Students must work a minimum or 15 hours during
  the week.

• The correctness of job duties that you perform.

  cleanliness, neatness, atire).
