Title: MIOX Innovative Minerals
1June 2009
2MIOX as Functional Filler for Polymers
- Basic properties
- High Aspect Ratio
- Narrow particle size distribution
- Stable chemical properties
- Excellent Optic, Haptic, Organoleptic
- Physiologically harmless
3MIOX Basic Properties
- Mineralogy Hematite, Specularite
- Chem. formula Fe2O3 (iron-III-oxide)
- Colour dark grey to reddish brown, metallic
- Shape platy
- Density 4,8 g/cm³
- Hardness 6,06,5 Mohs
4MIOX - Unique Mineral Filler
- Mineralogical properties of micaceous iron oxide
up to now made it impossible to keep high aspect
ratio at particle sizes below 50 µm.
- With our new grinding technology KMI has managed
to micronize and submicronize micaceous iron
oxide with high aspect ratio.
- Depending on the MIOX grade extremely high
aspect ratio of more than 501 can be realized.
5MIOX - Unique Mineral Filler
- Our grinding process is especially designed for
the basic properties of micaceous iron oxide.
- Comminution by high velocity differences
guaranties high delamination combined with less
mechanical deformation.
- Depending on production parameters special
tailor-made functional fillers for polymers can
be realized.
- MIOX offers outstanding performance and an up
till now never realized combination of properties
in standard thermoplastics.

20MIOX Mineral Fillers
MIOX fillers increase productivity !
- Already at low filler loading significant
increase of thermal conductivity is reached! - As a consequence cycle time can be optimized and
processing speed increases!

22Sound Absorption of Fibers Filled with MIOX
SUBMICRO
Independent institutes confirmed an improvement
of sound absorption up to 50 with MIOX
SUBMICRO 2.5 as active filler !
Test results based on comparative analyses of
fibers tested within frequency range 100Hz up to
2.000 Hz, unfilled and with MIOX SUBMICRO 2.5 as
active filler.
