- Pullout Program
- Students come out of other classes for lessons.
Every effort is made so that students are not
pulled out of Math. Students ROTATE which classes
they are pulled from!
Two 20-minute group lessons per week Lessons are
scheduled in a two week rotation, Blue Week and
White Week. These schedules can be found posted
in the halls, and your student will bring home a
slip of paper indicating their lesson days and
times. It is also posted on my door in the
cafetorium. THEY WILL NEED THEIR INSTRUMENTS
EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY!
3Performances
Two Main Concerts
- Winter Concert TUESDAY Dec. 15th 7pm
It is my expectation that each student musician
is expected to attend all performances for the
Winter and Spring concerts, except under
circumstances of emergency, illness or death in
the family.
4Other Performance Opportunities
- Side by Side Concert with Arbutus Middle School
on March 25th with other local Elementary
Schools. We will have after school rehearsals 1
week before the concert from 4 to 500 Tuesday
March 16th for band and March 17th at AMS. - Various performance opportunities at school-wide
functions throughout the year.
5HOME PRACTICE SUCCESS
Home Practice Expectations
- Average of 10 Minutes of practice at home per
night, 7 days per week. PIANO, GUITAR, OTHER
MUSIC LESSONS COUNT!!!
- Home practice must be recorded on monthly
practice charts which are graded each month.
6What Your Child Needs to Get Started
Please refrain from buying unknown instrument
brands off the internet or from a warehouse chain
store.
- ACCESSORIES - reeds, valve oil, etc.
- MUSIC STAND a wire one is fine for them to use!
- LESSON BOOK I have them, they are 9.50 and can
be paid through a check payable to HES.
7 Grades/Report Cards
Report Cards are issued each quarter. Grades
are based on
- Participation/Preparation for lessons
(instrument/ music EACH Tuesday and Thursday!)
- Performance Assessments (Playing Quizzes)
- Home Practice (Practice Charts)
8First Lessons
- All beginners will start lessons September 29th.
- Students will bring home a letter from me with
information regarding lesson days and times by
September 22nd. Please be patient!!
