Basis for Plan
  • Goal 4 Implement policies, procedures and
    programs to promote the recruitment, professional
    development and retention of a quality work
    force.
  • Service award program an outgrowth of Recruitment
  • and Retention Innovation Team and in response to
  • employee feedback regarding need for more
  • recognition of staff members

Purpose and Eligibility Requirements
  • Establish program for recognition of employees at
    5 year service increments
  • Full-time and part-time employees as defined in
    procedure GAB-P will be eligible to receive
    service awards

Service Pin

First Year Implementation
  • Employees will receive service pin which
    corresponds to their highest 5 year increment of
    service attained as of June 30, 2007 (2,500)
  • Service awards will be presented to employees by
    their building/department administrator at their
    work site
  • Employees with 25 or more years of service will
    be recognized at a reception and will receive
    their service pin at that function
  • Target distribution by December 1, 2007

Subsequent Years
  • Service awards will be presented in June of each
    year to those who have attained a 5 year service
    increment within that fiscal year (850/year)
  • Service pins will be presented at reception or
    employees worksite as with first year
    implementation

Next Steps
  • Communicate new program to staff
  • Complete first year implementation plan
  • Develop policy to institutionalize various
    recognition programs currently in place at
    school/department levels
