Keep in mind
  • This may seem complicated at first
  • Change our thinking from a calendar month to a
    rolling month timeframe
  • We will be paid for everyday we work
  • Checks will simply reflect a different
    time-frame

Current Pay Cycle
  • Pays for all working days in a calendar month
  • Payroll run is approximately 10 days prior to the
    end of the month
  • Days are projected for the remaining 10 days
  • SDBOR has been prospectively paying for hours
    worked
  • Inclusive of employees who have not worked
  • Adjustments are made the following month for
    overtime, leave without pay, etc.

How Will The Pay Cycle Shift?
  • Historical pay cycle 1st 31st of the month
  • New Payroll cut off date will be the 21st
  • New pay cycle will be 22nd of each month to 21st
    of next month
  • Pay day will remain the last working day of the
    month

Whats the Advantage to Employees?
  • Reduce paperwork associated with payroll
    adjustments and corrections
  • Employees will be paid for actual days worked in
    the current pay cycle
  • Consistent with pay process for other state
    employees and the private sector

When will this take effect?
  • New pay cycle will take effect July 2006

How will my paycheck be impacted?
  • Contract August 15 through May 19
  • Currently you are paid a ½ month salary in August
    and ½ in May.
  • Under the new payroll cycle (22nd-21st), you will
    work and be paid for approximately ¼ month within
    the August pay cycle and ¾ month in the May pay
    cycle.

Faculty - 9 month OT Exempt

How will my August 2006 pay check
be impacted?
  • To minimize the financial impact of the shorter
    August pay cycle, the Board of Regents (BOR)
    will advance funds to employees to cover the
    difference.
  • Advance for 9 month faculty will be 1/4th month.
  • With repayment over 10 months
