Seismic Waves

• The speed and path of seismic waves allow
  scientists to determine the structure of Earths
  interior.
• Primary and secondary waves slow down when they
  hit the plastic-like asthenosphere.
• The area between 105 and 140 degrees from an
  earthquakes focus is called the shadow zone (no
  waves are detected).
