- Principals are advised to strictly follow
district policies and procedures in the reporting
of alleged student and child abuse incidents.

- Principals are reminded that recent district
policy regarding student expulsions requires that
school staff inform the Local District
Superintendent of the recommendation and that
documentation is provided to substantiate the
recommendation.

- Effective immediately all overtime is frozen.
Special circumstances will require the approval

City Terraces AYP was recalculated by the CDE
and it was determined that City Terrace met its
AYP goal for 2007-08 and therefore is not a PI
Watch School.

- Maria Torres Flores and the staff from Bravo
Medical Magnet. Students were declared winners of
the 15th Annual American Society of Civil
Engineers Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Contest
on February 13th at UCLA. The team competed
against 40 other teams in the LA Orange county
areas.

- Manuel Diaz and the Nightingale staff who held
its third annual Science Family Night on Tuesday,
February 24, 2009. It was very well attended and
students and their siblings were able to enjoy a
variety of science related activities.
Participants were able to dissect a frog, launch
a rocket, make polymers, look under microscopes,
look through telescopes and learn about erosion
and other fun activities.

Decathlon. Teams and students were recognized on
February 12th at the LA Convention Center.

whose team (one of nine) will continue its

nations Read Across America initiative and the
