Rosa Parks is a famous African American that is
mostly famous for getting arrested for not giving
up her seat to a white man after the bus driver
told her to.
3Childhood
Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on
February 4, 1913. She grew up on a farm with her
mother and younger brother Sylvester. Rosa was
also home schooled until she was 11. Then she
went to Industrial school for girls only in
Montgomery. In 1932, Rosa married Raymond Parks.
She had a lot of jobs, one of them was for the
NAACP.
4What Made them Famous
Not giving up her seat is not the only thing
Rosa is famous for. In 1992, Rosa published Rosa
ParksMy story. Rosa also published Quiet
Strength. Rosa is very famous for her awards,
one is a Rosa Parks Peace Prize in 1994. Rosa is
also inducted in to the Woman's Hall of Fame in
1983.
5Interesting Facts
Some other facts are that she had a funeral in
three places. In one place, there was a seven
hour service. She also has the bus that she rode
on before she was arrested in the Henry Ford
Museum.
