Despite name, black bears actually appear in many
colors, including brown, white, and even blue
in the glacier bear.
Estimates for the number of black bears in North
America are very close to 750,000!
3The Brown Bear

The Brown Bear has been found all over the world
including places such as Europe, Japan, North
Asia, the western Canadian provinces, and the
states of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming,
and Alaska.
This is the bear that most people consider cute
and sometimes forget that it is a wild animal.
The Brown bear is what the Teddy Bear was first
created after.
4The Giant Panda
Pandas rarely eat meat making them primarily
vegitarians. Their diets consist 99 of
bamboo. An adult panda can eat anywhere between
26 and 33 pounds of bamboo going up to 84 pounds
if the bamboo is a soft new shoot.
The Panda can actually only be found in southwest
China, in six very small regions.
First considered a bear in 1995, before that it
was considered to be a type of raccoon.
5The Polar Bear

The Polar Bears ears are round just like all the
other bears, but their ears are closer to the
head and smaller. Their paws are also larger and
are slightly webbed. These two factors contribute
to the fact that Polar Bears are excellent
swimmers.
In order to survive the harsh temperatures, the
Polar Bear must be a survivalist. The skin is
black, in order to draw as much heat as possible
from the sun.
