Purpose of Amendment
  • Executive Board authority
  • The Regional Council recognizes that as cities
continue to grow, both through net increase and
through annexation of unincorporated areas, their
population and employment levels may change
significantly. To reflect these changes, it is
anticipated that the Regional Councils Executive
Board will make a technical amendment to the
    Regional Growth Strategy to potentially
reclassify cities before the regions counties
undertake the next round of Growth Management Act
    target-setting work. (VISION 2040, p.18)

  • Annexations, UGA adjustments and city
reclassifications change the role of affected
    communities in implementing the RGS
  • Provides counties and cities with numbers that
reflect current boundaries to use in updating
    growth targets

  • It shifts 2000 base year population and
employment for annexed areas, UGA adjustment
areas and reclassified cities to the appropriate
    regional geography

allocation associated with annexed areas, UGA
adjustment areas and reclassified cities to the
    appropriate regional geographies
