• In order to stay competitive, creative industries
  such as the arts and cultural, media and design
  industries play an important role in the economy
  of Singapore

Singapore to pump millions into becoming arts hub

• The Singapore government will pump US29 million
  over the next 5 years to transform Singapore into
  Asia's "Renaissance City," teeming with artistic
  activities.
• "We want to position Singapore as a key city in
  the Asian renaissance of the 21st century and a
  cultural center in the globalized world," said a
  report released by the Ministry of Information
  and the Arts.

  Singapore by 2012.
