Grid Service concepts
2
Access restriction to SDEs
  • Access to SDEs MAY be subject to policy
    restrictions. This implies, for example
  • Some service data elements MAY not be available
    to some clients.
  • Some service data value elements within an SDE
MAY not be available to some clients.
  • Two different clients MAY see different service
data value elements in the same serviceData
element from the same Grid service instance.

3
Service identification
  • A GS instance is globally named by a Grid Service
    Handle (GSH) .
  • GSH is just a minimal name in the form of a URI,
  • not enough information to allow a client to
communicate directly with the service instance.
  • Is valid for the whole lifetime of the instance
  • GSH must be resolved to a Grid Service Reference
    (GSR).
  • A GSR contains all information that a client
    requires
  • It is a WSDL (possible to have different
bindings, if you implement a custom
    handle-resolver service)
  • May become invalid during service instance
    lifetime
