  • Duration of the course is one semester (32
    academic hours)
  • A second-level subject (students selecting IPE
preferably should have a basic understanding of
    micro and macro economics)
  • Lectures are the main format of the course
followed by discussions between students and the
    lecturer
  • Students are encouraged to develop their own view
on all topics and be able to critique or defend
    different assumptions.

3
Purpose of the Course
  • To introduce some of the fundamental
relationships between politics and economics on
both the domestic and international levels, and
explain how these two are mutually dependent
  • To show how on the international level political
decisions intervene on all economic decisions and
    vice versa
  • To examine the politics of globalization from
    different perspectives and illustrate historical
    developments of the global economy.

4
  • The course introduction provides views of
different scholars on the relationship between
politics and economics, such as Edward Carr, Joan
Spero, Robert Gilpin, etc., offers couple of
    historical facts illustrating tight relationship
between these two and suggests that politics and
economy are in constant interaction and all
    international level political decisions intervene
