General Expectations
  • Pay attention, participate and have a good
    attitude
  • Have good attendance
  • Make up work when you are absent (website)
  • Be on time to class
  • Bring your text book and materials to class
  • Complete your homework for each class as well as
    you can
  • Respect other people and school property

  • Do not eat food during class
  • Do not drink soft drinks in this room
  • Do not use cell phones
  • Do not listen to ipods or music
  • Do not disrupt the learning of other students
  • Do not engage in horse play during experiments

Class participation
  • Class starts right away!
  • Pay attention to the instructions

Laboratory
  • 25 of the coursework will be in the laboratory
    and the reports will be kept in a portfolio for
    the IB internal assessment.
  • Read the handouts before each practical and
    prepare data tables in advance.
  • During the laboratory, write observations and
    make good use of the laboratory time. You will
    turn in your rough notes for each laboratory.
    These must be signed by me.
  • Expect to see questions about the experiments on
    tests and quizzes.

Laboratory continued
  • Students who are absent must make up the
    practical as soon as possible after school or
    during a free period.
  • All practical reports are due one week after the
    experimental work is completed, at the beginning
    of the hour.
  • 25 of the grade will be given for each day that
    the work is late.
  • When lab reports are returned to the students, a
    1 will be awarded to students who have not
    completed the report.
  • When allowed, reports written in pairs must be
    written in different colors or fonts.

Homework
  • Expect to read, finish a project or report or
    study between each lesson.
  • Many of the readings are online. You are
    expected to check the website for links.
  • If you are absent, check the website to find out
    what work was missed and try to do the assignment
    before the next lesson.
  • Homework does not receive a grade, however, it
    will be discussed and you will find it on tests
    and quizzes.

Quizzes
  • Quizzes are meant to give feedback to you and
    myself about what you have learned.
  • All quizzes must be made up as soon as possible
    if missed due to an absence.
  • You will be given at least a week notice to
    prepare for each quiz.

  • Tests follow each unit or set of units
  • Students should do well on them because they had
    feedback on their learning from the quizzes and
    homework.
  • You will be given a week notice before each test.
