Purpose

• Answers the Question Why are we doing this lab?
• The answer is never Because Ms. Turner told us
  to!!
• Usually found in the textbook.
• Is something like We want to see what happens
  when we stop

Hypothesis

• An educated guess as to what you think is going
  to happen.
• Is something like I think (put what you think
  is going to happen), because I know/saw/read/heard
  that (put what you know/saw/read/heard) stop

Materials

• Lists everything you need and used in the lab.

Procedure

• Gives the reader step by step instructions on how
  to do the lab exactly as you did the lab.
• Carefully outline every detail and action you
  used. Includes all measurements of ingredients
  you used.
• Is a list that says Step _ stop

Results

• Is usually a table that shows what you found or
  saw happen.
• Sometimes may include a diagram (picture) that
  you draw about what you saw. stop

Conclusion

• This is where you say if your hypothesis was
  right or wrong. It is not a bad thing if your
  hypothesis is wrong, you may have just discovered
  something that no other scientist ever knew
  before!!
• Here you also list your sources of error. stop

Sources of Error

• This is a list and description of things that may
  have gone wrong during your experiment. Every
  lab has sources of error because humans are not
  perfect and we do make mistakes. There are also
  things that we are not able to control sometimes.
