27Recommendations
- Not enough resources to handle the number of
people with weight issues - Start with the youth, that will create a
foundation for the future. - More programs like Girls on the Go and Boys on
the Go - Bring We Can to Worcester Ways to Enhance
Childrens Activity and Nutrition - Provide more physical education in schools - once
a week is not enough. - Educate teachers, parents, and primary caregivers
of ways to fight obesity and places they can go
for help.
28Recommendations contd
- Invest in the obesity clinic that the Department
of Public Health is in the process of creating - Work with the local government to subsidize the
cost of healthier organic foods for lower income
families. - More advertising about the obesity problem and
places people can go to get help. - Get the information to the schools and hospitals
so that it can get in the hands of the people who
need it. - Advertise on local television for clinics and
other places people can go to. - Billboards around the city
- When advertising the problem, put a focus on the
dangerous effects of obesity such has heart
disease, diabetes and heart attacks.
