1st paragraph
  • This paragraph will take up about the first 2/3
of page 1. It is about your motif, NOT about
your literature. It explains your motif in
    general terms.
  • The LAST SENTENCE of your first paragraph is your
thesis statement, and it tells that your motif is
found in your three works of literature.

Sample Paragraph
  • The need to be accepted is part of human
nature. No matter what age, gender, or race a
person is there is always that lingering
aspiration to fit in. This is caused by the
immense stress society places on the need to be
accepted. It is almost as if there are specific
guidelines to meet in order to fit in, such as
what to wear, who to associate with, and how to
behave. For those who naturally meet these
    undocumented requirements, fitting in comes
easily. Then there are those who dont meet the
standards of the ideal image society has created.
Mans desire to be someone hes not persists as
an every present dream in his heart, only to be
proven incomplete is demonstrated in Cisneros
novel The House on Mango Street, Hekers story
The Stolen Party, and Hulces poem Out There.
