• Learn to recognize what a good configuration
  looks like
• IP addresses correct?
• No shutdowns
• Correct network statements?
• IGRP autonomous system consistent?
• Be systematic and look at each element in turn

Show IP Route

• Are there routes to all networks?
• If not, from which router is the router not
  receiving updates?
• Check each router along a path
• Can use Debug commands to see if the router is
  receiving updates

Show Interfaces

• Are the interfaces up?
• Most common problems are the interface is
  shutdown, clock rate not set or encapsulation not
  correct

ICMP

• Ping each step along the path to see where the
  problem is occurring
• Can also use trace
• Use Debug IP ICMP to see which routers are
  receiving ICMP packets

Router Debug Commands

• Use debug commands to make sure routers are
  receiving and sending updates
