Thanksgiving Surprise

On a cold, brisk day before Thanksgiving, Ben and
a few other students were called to Mrs.
Gallegos desk unexpectedly.
I hope Im not in trouble.
Uhoh
Ben, come here please.

Much to their surprise, Mrs. Gallegos announced
that they would be going on a special trip, a
trip to a local retirement home to help bake
delicious pumpkin pies with the residents.
Were not in trouble! We are going on a field
trip!

As Ben and his friends boarded the awaiting
school bus, the excitement mounted.
CARLSON SCHOOL
Wait for me!
Hurry up!

When the bus reached Fairhaven Retirement Home,
Ben, Terry and Martha couldnt wait to hurry
inside and begin making pies.
Lets get inside.

The retirement home was warm and cozy. Ben and
his friends felt right at home as they gathered
around the hot fireplace to meet some of the
residents.
Good morning students! Welcome!

Mrs. Smith took them to the good smelling
kitchen. It was filled with so many
mouth-watering things, they didnt know what to
say.
Here is the kitchen. This is where we will make
our pies.
Wow!

Mrs. Smith helped them mix up the messy flour and
sugar for the pie crusts. She is a great baker .
Go see if the oven is ready.

We opened the oven to look at the pies and were
amazed to see that all the ingredients that we
had combined before could really make such good
looking pies. Our mouths were watering just
looking into the oven.
Just look at these pies!

We went to the spacious dining room to set the
table so that we could finally sit down and enjoy
eating our enticing looking pumpkin pies.
We need more plates!
Ill go get them.

The pie was even better than we thought it would
be.

That field trip was the best Thanksgiving
surprise that Ben ever had.
