CENTAURE Operational missions
  • Give battalion commanders new means for combined
arms training at combat team level (Armored,
    mechanized, motorized)
  • G2V0 1 versus 1 combat team
  • G2V1 2 versus 1 combat team
  • G2V2 2 versus 3 combat team
  • Validate new concepts
  • Participate in the improvement of field manuals
  • Participate in organization units chart
    acceptance
  • Experiment new weapon systems in combined arms
    training

4
CENTAURE Overview
5
Live training centers The path ahead
  • CENTAURE G2V1 fielded in march 2002
  • Preliminary studies for the Urban area training
center (CENZUB) will start by the end of the year
  • Development of a new generation of weapon effect
    simulator will be necessary.

SYSIMEV-IA General Description
  • A tactical trainer for company/squadron and
    section/platoon leader
  • A low cost system based on reusable components
(CGF, Weapon and Force Structure Data Base,
    Terrain Modeling Tool)
  • The system is being tested by the Army at the
Mailly Training Center (conclusions will be
    published soon)

8
SYSIMEV-IA Overview
9
EDITH General Description
  • Reuse of SYSIMEV-IA components to build a
tactical training system for the helicopters
  • Main adaptations
  • Simulation improved with aircraft and
    anti-aircraft weapons
  • Software emulation of different cockpits
(Gazelle, Puma, Tigre) with the weapons and
    information systems
  • Adapted after action review tools
  • Communication network compliant with HLA

10
EDITH Overview
Trainees working with the instructor as a pilot
Up to 5 animators
After Action Review
Exercise Director
11
Low cost simulation The future
  • The conclusion of the SYSIMEV-IA experiment have
not been published yet, but the concept looks
very promising for combined arms tactical
    training
  • EDITH will be available in January 2002
  • minor adaptations should be necessary to train
the artillery forward observer or the engineers
  • an improved version of SYSIMEV-IA could be a
delivered in the infantry and armored regiments
