Warning Signs
  • Seismograph- detects movement or vibrations
  • The stronger the vibration the further up and
    down the lines go

Bulging Rocks
  • Over the years, magma and gases rose inside of
Mt. St. Helens and pressure on the crust
    increased
  • The magma and gases placed more and more pressure
on the crust creating a bulge
  • Then an earthquake caused rocks atop the mountain
to slide downhill, pressure was released, and an
    explosion occurred.
