What makes it
  • When the sunlight enters a raindrop it is
refracted, or bent, by and reflected from the
drop in such a way that the light appears as a
spectrum of colors. The colors can be seen,
however, only when the angle of reflection
between the sun, the drop of water, and the
observer's line of vision is between 40 and 42.

located
  • Rainbow Bridge National Monument, national
monument proclaimed in 1910. Located in southern
Utah just north of the Arizona border, the
monument features Rainbow Bridge, a natural
formation of salmon-pink sandstone that resembles
the arc of a rainbow. Rainbow Bridge is the
largest natural bridge in the world. It is 94 m
(309 ft) high and spans 85 m (278 ft) over Bridge
    Canyon. The bridge is 13 m (42 ft) thick and 10 m
    (33 ft) wide.

Description of rainbows
  • Rainbow, arch of light exhibiting the spectrum
colors in their order, caused by drops of water
waterfalls. In the brightest or primary bow,
often the only one seen, falling thro Located in
southern U monument features Rainbow Bridge, a
natural utah just north of ugh the air. It is
seen usually in the sky opposite to the sun at
the close of a shower and also in the spray of
the colors are arranged with the red outside.
Above the perfect bow is a secondary bow, in
which the colors are arranged in reverse order
this bow is dimmer, because of a double
    reflection within the drops.

When rainbows occur
  • Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors
that the eye can detect. The range of sunlight
colors, when combined, looks white to the eye.
This property of sunlight was first demonstrated
by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666.
  • Light of different colors is refracted by
different amounts when it passes from one medium

6
What damage
  • Rainbows cause no damage because its reflected
    light.

7
